Upload a File, Download a File

Copy-and-paste paraphrasing works for a paragraph, but not for a twenty-page report or a thirty-slide deck. ParaFree lets you paraphrase documents online the way you actually work with them: upload the file, let the AI rewrite the wording, and download a file again. No account, no word limit, nothing to install — it all runs in your browser.

Here is exactly what each file type supports today:

FileUploadDownloadFormatting kept?
Word (.docx)Yes.docx or .txtYes — styles, lists, tables, images
PowerPoint (.pptx)Yes (Paraphraser).pptxYes — slide design and layout
PDFYes, incl. scanned pages (OCR).txt or a new .docxNo — text only
Plain text (.txt)Yes.txt or .docx—

The older .doc format and other file types are not supported; save them as .docx first.

PowerPoint: the Design Stays the Same

Slides are where copy-and-paste hurts most, because every text box has its own position, font and colour. When you upload a .pptx in the Paraphraser, ParaFree rewrites the text inside each body text box and writes it back into the same box. Layouts, themes, images, charts and positions are not touched, slide titles keep their original wording, and a box whose text comes back unchanged is left exactly as it was.

For a closer look at slide decks, see the PowerPoint paraphraser guide.

Why PDFs Come Back as Text

A PDF is a finished print layout, not an editable document, so ParaFree reads the words out of it — using OCR for scanned pages — and paraphrases those. You can download the result as plain text or as a new Word file, but the original PDF layout is not rebuilt. If you still have the Word or PowerPoint file the PDF was made from, upload that instead to keep the formatting.

The Workflow

  1. Upload your .docx, .pptx, .pdf or .txt with the Upload File button on the paraphraser.
  2. Check the extracted text in the input box and choose a mode.
  3. Paraphrase. Big files run in parts with a progress bar, and links, citations and reference lists are protected.
  4. Download with the Word or PowerPoint button to get your formatted file. Word, PDF and text results can also be saved as TXT.

The Humanizer, Summarizer and Grammar Checker read the same file types and give you text or Word downloads; keeping a PowerPoint's design is a Paraphraser feature. Rewriting a Word file specifically? See how to paraphrase a Word document without losing formatting.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which file types can I upload?

You can upload Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF and plain text (.txt) files. The older .doc format is not supported, so save it as .docx first.

Can I download a paraphrased PDF?

Not in its original layout. ParaFree reads the text from a PDF, including scanned pages through OCR, and you download the result as text or a new Word file.

Is my document stored anywhere?

No. Your file is read in your browser and only the text is sent to the AI for paraphrasing. Nothing is saved on our servers, and no account is needed.
