Convert PDF to Word and Word to PDF, turn photos of your notes into a PDF, and compress or merge PDFs — free, with no signup and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser.

Your files never leave your device.
PDF to Word

Creates an editable Word file — text, headings, bold/italic, lists and images kept. Complex layouts (multi-column, tables, forms) may not match exactly.

PDF to Word converter

Turn a PDF back into an editable Word document — handy when you need to update an old assignment, reuse a handout or quote from a reading. Text, headings, bold and italic, lists and images come across, and scanned pages are read with OCR. You can edit the result here before downloading the .docx.

Word to PDF converter

Many submission portals ask for a PDF. Upload your .docx, check it in the preview (you can fix a last typo right there) and download a PDF with selectable text. If you prefer, use Print / Save as PDF from your browser instead.

JPG to PDF: photos of notes into one file

Photographed your handwritten notes, a worksheet or a whiteboard? Combine phone photos and screenshots into a single PDF in the order you choose, on A4 or Letter pages. Photos are turned the right way up automatically.

Compress PDF for upload size limits

University and job portals often cap uploads at a few megabytes. Light mode shrinks large images and keeps the text selectable; strong mode makes the smallest file by turning pages into images. You always see the size before and after.

Merge PDF files

Put a cover sheet, your assignment and an appendix into one file, or join lecture slides into a single study pack. Drag the files (or use the arrows) to set the order, then merge.

Frequently asked questions

Are these PDF tools really free?

Yes. All five tools are free, with no signup, no watermark and no daily cap on how many files you convert. ParaFree is kept running by donations.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every tool runs inside your browser, so your files are opened and processed on your own device and are never sent to ParaFree or anyone else. The first time you open a tool, the page downloads the free open-source code it needs from the jsDelivr CDN — your files are not part of that.

Will my PDF look the same in Word?

Text, headings, bold and italic, lists and images are kept, and you can edit the result before downloading it. Complex layouts such as multi-column pages, tables and forms may not match the original exactly, so check the file before you submit it.

Can it convert scanned PDFs?

Yes. When a page has no text layer, for example a scan or photo of your notes, the PDF to Word tool reads it with OCR (text recognition) in your browser. OCR is most accurate on clear, straight English text, so read through the result before you use it.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on the file. Light mode keeps text selectable and shrinks large images, which helps most with PDFs full of photos or scans. Strong mode turns each page into an image for the smallest file, but the text can no longer be selected. If a PDF is already small, the tool tells you and you can keep the original.

Are there any file limits?

Each file can be up to 50 MB and one task up to 200 MB in total. PDF to Word handles up to 50 pages at a time; the other tools handle up to 300 pages.
